35 Years of Excellence in Specialized Rehabilitation Services

Since 1990, Access Community Therapists has grown from two occupational therapists into a locally owned, employee-led practice of more than 50 professionals. Access Community Therapist Team of Directors

Our Story

Founded in 1990, Access Community Therapists began with a mission to help adults with developmental disabilities transition from institutions into safe, healthy homes. Our first contracts with health authorities focused on wheelchair seating and mobility and dysphagia services. These partnerships continue to this day.

Over the decades, Access Community Therapists has expanded into occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and specialized nursing services. Our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to deliver the highest quality care, and many of our clinicians have been with us for decades.

Our company has grown, our team has flourished, and our services have expanded and diversified. Our original commitment has remained the same – to provide meaningful, individualized services to support our clients in meeting their goals.

Our Vision

To continue leading in complex rehabilitation by combining clinical excellence, mentorship, and collaboration with funders, healthcare partners, and communities. We aim to be known as the team you can trust: for clients, for colleagues, and for the future of the profession.

Our Mission

Access is rooted in community-based healthcare and a strong culture of excellence, mentorship, and trust. Our mission is to deliver exceptional, evidence-informed rehabilitation that empowers individuals of all abilities to achieve outcomes meaningful to them, and fully engage in their daily lives, roles, and communities. As a trusted partner, leader, and educator in community rehabilitation across British Columbia and beyond, we are committed to advancing clinical practice and providing collaborative, person-centred care.

Through strong partnerships with health authorities, insurers, and public agencies, and by investing in the growth and development of our clinicians, we foster innovation, inclusion, and clinical excellence. We provide reliable, compassionate services that create lasting impact for the individuals, families, and communities we serve.

Education & Training

Beyond direct client care, Access Community Therapists shares our expertise with the broader rehabilitation community. We thoughtfully design and deliver hands-on, experiential workshops for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, and other clinicians, supporting the development of specialized skills in wheelchair seating, dysphagia, pressure management, and wound care. We are passionate about advancing clinical excellence to improve outcomes for both therapists and the individuals they serve.
